HONOR GUARD

The Honor Guard members are made up of veterans from the Chillicothe's VFW, American Legion and AMVETS posts. The primary purpose for the Honor Guard is to provide Military Rites at the funeral of deceased veterans as they are laid to rest. This takes place at the cemetery or at other final resting places.

The honor guard has three areas of responsibility when providing military rites at a funeral:

1

Folding & Presenting the American Flag to the veteran's family

2

Firing a 21-gun rifle salute

3

The Playing of Taps

The Honor Guard also fires the 21-gun rifle salute and plays Taps for three major holidays: Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Pearl Harbor Day.
