As a non-profit entity, the VFW is a fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational organization. We preserve and strengthen comradeship among our local members and assist them and their families in their time of need. We perpetuate the memory and history of deceased members by celebrating national holidays for veterans. We maintain a true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America and fidelity to its institution of American freedom. We help local veterans with guidance and leadership to ensure that they receive all of their entitled benefits.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO JOIN THE VFW?
If you have received a campaign medal for overseas service, have served 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea, or have ever received hostile fire or imminent danger pay, then you're eligible and encouraged to join our ranks. More information.
What does it cost to be a vfw member?
$45 per year, but a life membership might be a more cost effective choice.
WHAT DO I GET FOR MY MONEY?
The VFW offers multiple services geared towards all the needs of our veterans, including the mind, body and physical needs. In addition, you also get a place to hang out with other military members, old and new.
As a member of the VFW, you are a part of an organization that lobbies to the Illinois State Legislature and Congress in Washington D.C. The higher the membership number, the more influence the group has to pass veteran favorable legislation. Lack of VFW support will result in lower veteran benefits.
Some VFW benefits include a subscription to VFW Magazine, Discounts & Special Offers from a Wide Range of Businesses, No-Cost Personal Accident Insurance, Veterans' Advocates that can assist with VA claims and other benefits, and more!
